Taco Ring

So I have been thinking about how to make dinner easier. I love to cook but I only love to cook if I plan ahead. I have come up with some ideas for easy dinners that moms can make and freeze or make back to back. I always buy my ground beef or ground turkey in bulk, aside from meatloaf I have been at a loss for ideas. I refuse to make boxed meals so I played for a while and came up with these recipes and my little monsters loved them! They are fun recipes you can make alone or incorporate the kids. My five year old daughter has been asking every night to make these again and again. So here you go. These are fast, easy, and allow some creative juices to flow!

Instead of making tacos, try this! You will need a pizza stone… It creates a circle to lay your crescent rolls into a sun formation.

2 packages of refrigerated crescent rolls
1 and half pounds lean ground beef or ground turkey
1 package of taco seasoning
2 cups cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons of water
1 egg white
Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, tomato, chopped red onion, salsa, sour cream and black olives.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cook ground meat until cooked through with no pink. Crumble the meat and drain. Stir in taco seasoning, water, and cheese. Mix together.

Now to create a ring… Unroll the 2 packages of crescent rolls and separate into individual triangles. Arrange triangles, slightly overlapping, in a circle on pizza stone. Imagine a sun. The triangles will be placed near the edge and the tips of the triangles will be hanging off stone for a bit. Roll wide ends of dough toward center to form a 5 inch opening.

Grab your ice cream scoop. Scoop the filling of meat and cheese evenly over the dough in a circle. Bring points of triangles up and over the filling and tuck under dough at center to form a ring. The filling will show. It will look pretty when it is cooked.
Brush with egg white. Sprinkle a little cheese on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

When it is done cooking, the ring can be served right from the pizza stone. I used a small plate to put the topping in the middle. I layered our toppings in the middle. I used a pizza cutter to cut through it. Enjoy!
